Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
• Plan and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based Mathematics and Science lessons across MYP and DP year groups, aligned with IB curriculum frameworks and BEPS’ Teaching and Learning Policy
• Design learning experiences that foster critical thinking, scientific curiosity, and mathematical reasoning, challenging every student to reach their full potential
• Use varied teaching strategies and a range of resources, drawing on the classroom, school environment, and digital tools to enrich learning
• Adapt and differentiate planning based on ongoing observation and assessment, ensuring all learners are appropriately supported and challenged
• Collaborate with the Learning Support team to plan clear objectives for students with individual learning needs
• Assess student progress through both informal and formal methods in line with BEPS’ Assessment Policy, maintaining accurate and complete records
• Contribute to IB curriculum development, including the design of MYP units of inquiry and DP internal assessments
• Guide students through IB-specific requirements, including the MYP Personal Project and DP Extended Essay or subject-based investigations as relevant
Care & Student Wellbeing
• Develop a caring, respectful relationship with each student, supporting their academic, social and emotional growth
• Promote wellbeing and positive social skills, and safeguard students’ health and safety at all times
• Monitor behaviour in accordance with the Student Wellbeing Policy and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment
• Participate in pastoral meetings and Student Study Team discussions as needed
Communication & Collaboration
• Communicate professionally and sensitively with students, parents, and colleagues at all times
• Report on student learning, achievements, and effort through Parent Teacher Consultations, Student Led Conferences, and End of Year reports
• Collaborate with specialist teachers, the Learning Support team, and wider school staff to ensure the best outcomes for every student
• Participate actively in staff meetings, team meetings, INSET days, and professional development sessions
School & Professional Development
• Engage in continuous professional development, staying current with IB developments, research in mathematics and science education, and best practice in inclusive and inquiry-based pedagogy
• Contribute to the review and development of school policies and take ownership of an area of school development
• Participate in and support whole-school projects, events, and community occasions, including those that take place outside regular school hours
• Bring the learning from professional development into daily classroom practice, ensuring a consistent and evolving approach across the team
